As an exhibitor at the workshop of the GI special interest group VR/AR at RheinMain University of Applied Sciences, the InnoVET PLUS project XR2ACH gathered feedback from XR experts in research and industry and ideas for development and evaluation.

On 23 and 24 September 2026, RheinMain University of Applied Sciences in Wiesbaden hosted the GI Workshop 2026 on Virtual and Augmented Reality. Organised by the Virtual and Augmented Reality special interest group of the Gesellschaft für Informatik e.V. (German Informatics Society, GI), the workshop has been an established platform for more than two decades, where researchers and practitioners from academia and industry discuss current developments and research results in VR and AR.

The InnoVET PLUS project XR2ACH took part as an exhibitor, presenting its learning environment for refrigeration, air-conditioning and heat pump technology to an expert audience that researches and develops VR and AR itself.

Feedback from XR experts

Unlike at refrigeration trade fairs, the focus here was on the technical and methodological side. Visitors tested the application and gave us well-founded feedback on interaction, the multiplayer implementation and the design of the learning scenarios — from the perspective of people who work with immersive systems every day.

Ideas for development and evaluation

The scientific talks and conversations provided valuable input for our own work — both for the further development of the learning environment and for the evaluation strategy we use to measure usability, well-being and learning effects in our field trials. Bridging research and vocational practice is central to XR2ACH.

Many thanks to RheinMain University of Applied Sciences and the GI special interest group VR/AR for the organisation and the open exchange!
