Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences presented an XR learning scenario for leak detection in refrigeration and air conditioning technology at the 2025 annual conference of the German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association (DKV).

The InnoVET PLUS project XR2ACH was successfully presented at this year’s DKV Conference, held from November 19 to 21, 2025, in Magdeburg. The event was organized by the German Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Association (DKV) — the only technical and scientific association in Germany that brings together the fields of refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump technology. As the largest annual event of its kind, the DKV Conference offered a diverse program of high-level presentations, stimulating discussions, and numerous opportunities to connect with both long-standing and new members of the industry.

At the project booth, colleagues from Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences invited visitors to immerse themselves in the virtual world: using a VR headset, participants could experience firsthand how Extended Reality can support vocational training in refrigeration and air conditioning technology. A functional prototype of a learning scenario on leak detection in a refrigeration system was demonstrated, accompanied by a trailer video and beginner-friendly instructions for using the XR application. The live demonstration vividly illustrated how practical and innovative XR technologies can be applied in vocational education.

Visitor interest was high. The project team received valuable feedback and many constructive suggestions, which will inform the further development of the VR environment. In addition, numerous new contacts were established with potential users and future cooperation partners — an encouraging boost for the upcoming phases of the project.
